Father. Son. House Gucci.
It feels like you haven’t been able to move online in recent months without seeing people particularly The Gayz posting about Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated biopic House of Gucci.
Whether you’re a Gaga fan or not, it’s fair to say that anticipation for this one has been higher than one of Ariana’s whistle notes in Rain on Me.
Gaga stars as femme fatale Patrizia Reggiani, opposite an unrecognisable Jared Leto as Paulo Gucci, Adam Driver, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino as the patriarch Aldo Gucci.
“I don‘t consider myself to be a particularly ethical person… but I am fair.” One aspect of the movie that has proved a constant talking point, on social media and in articles, is Gaga’s accent, with some saying she sounds more Russian than Italian.
Gaga herself said that she stayed in-character for a year and a half and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, said that during filming she’d have to wake up at 3am to begin her physical transformation into the role – including a prosthetic bald cap and wigs – and would often vomit after she awoke from some mixture of “anxiety, fatigue, trauma, exhaustion, commitment and love.”
So it’s fair to say that she is committed. Fortunately, so are the Gaga fanbase of Monsters, who made handy videos like these. Peep below to see how alike Gaga’s interpretation of Patrizia’s accent is.
We can’t WAIT to see the full thing.
