Queer as Folk is BACK.
Today is a great day for queer representation in media, with Billy Eichner’s all LGBTQ+ rom-com ‘Bros’ dropping its first full trailer AND the long-awaited reboot of cult classic (skip to the bottom for a recap) Queer as Folk offering up a first full preview too!
Described as a “vibrant reimagining” of Russell T. Davies’ (It’s a Sin/ Doctor Who) seminal British series, the new Queer as Folk will centre on a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.
The Peacock reincarnation, from creator Stephen Dunn and co-produced by Davies, follows Brodie (Devin Way), Ruthie (Jesse James Keitel), Mingus (Fin Argus), Shar (Candace Grace), Julian (Ryan O’Connell), and Noah (Johnny Sibilly), and the events that take place following a tragedy reminiscent of the fatal 2016 Pulse shooting in Orlando.
Guest stars who also appear in the trailer include Nyle DiMarco (as Leo), Benito Skinner (as Jack Cole Jordan), Juliette Lewis (as Judy), and Kim Cattrall (as Brenda).
Written by Jaclyn Moore (Love Life, Dear White People), the reboot will give a new generation of LGBTQ+ viewers the chance to enjoy Queer as Folk in the very different landscape of Queerness we know today.
We cannot WAIT to watch!
Queer as Folk debuts June 9 on Peacock. Trailer below:
