It’s been ten years since a Scream movie graced the big screen and with the revival of franchises left right and centre, it seems the right time to return to Woodsboro – and it seems like the OG cast agree.
It’s actually been 25 years since the first movie provided the perfect balance of 4th-wall-breaking meta-horror depicted a streak of brutal murders by Ghostface, who became a Halloween costume stalwart ever since. Queer icon Kevin Williamson (the OG Ryan Murphy before Ryan Murphy came along – TOLD you this shit was meta) isn’t writing this time, instead will executive produce.
Now a new killer has donned the spooky mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers who may or may not be related to the surviving cast of Neve Campbell (“Sidney Prescott”), Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) and David Arquette (“Dewey Riley”) who all return to their iconic roles.
Alongside the big three is a slew of new cast members including Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.
Scream, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (who smashed it with Ready or Not) will drop in movie theatres on January 14, 2022.
