OMFG: Desperate Housewives tease revival series?

LGBT’s REJOYCE! It looks like there could be a Desperate Housewives revival series in 2022!

How on earth we missed this over the holidays we have no idea we were drunk, but if this is the kind of thing 2022 has to offer then we are are 100% here for it.

In a mysterious Tweet on New Year’s Eve, the official Twitter account for the show shared a new photo of the housewives, simply captioned: “*Desperately* waiting for 2022.”

The show gained iconic queer status when it ran for eight seasons from 2004 until 2012, following the lives of a close-knit group of women living in Wisteria Lane – a seemingly perfect neighbourhood that hid many secrets, crimes, forbidden romances and domestic struggles.

Also, it was SASSY AF.

We have very little in terms of official announcements or information about the comeback, but notably absent from the new poster was gay icon Vanessa Williams, who played glamorous Renee Perry from season 7 (and who, as well as being known for her career as a singer, actress, and fashion designer, you’ll also know from another iconic role in Ugly Betty).

Eva Longoria, who played Gabrielle Solis in the show, hinted back in October that a revival could be on the cards, adding that she would be “the first to sign up” for it.

Speaking to Radio Times, she said: “I mean, we ended the series with [Gaby] going off to start her own business. So I’d love to pick up and see like how she’s grown that business. Is she, you know, Kris Jenner? Just fabulous and flying all over the world and managing all of these businesses.”

“I think because you know back then, we did eight years of 24 episodes. I mean that’s a lot. Now you get a series with six episodes or five episodes. We had so many episodes per year that [creator Marc Cherry] felt like he exhausted every storyline, like I couldn’t sleep with one more person on that street”, the actress continued.

“I feel like he just felt like it’s run its course but, I always talk to Marc. I was actually talking to him the other day and we both just think there’s so much more to do there and I would be the first to sign up if he did anything.”

The final scenes of Desperate Housewives saw the main characters flash-forward in their lives, with Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) becoming a CEO and moving to New York with her husband Tom, Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria) set up a personal shopping website that eventually became a TV show, and Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) marrying and moving to Louisville, Kentucky where she became a member of the state legislature.

The fate of Susan Delfino (Teri Hatcher) was, however, never revealed to viewers, which left some social media users questioning whether that might be where a new reboot could pickup.
