Hocus Pocus’ Kathy Najimy sends support to Kim Cattrall after co-star Sarah Jessica Parker speaks about their rift. Meanwhile, Cattrall glitters at Queer As Folk premiere

Controversial public alliances, cat fights, a Hocus Pocus sequel and a Queer as Folk reboot… with so much tea in one story, anyone would think it was Pride month.

Ok so here is what went down. Get comfy.

Kathy Najimy, who stars in both the original Hocus Pocus movie and its forthcoming sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, alongside Sarah Jessica Parker tweeted a message of support to her “brilliant authentic talented beautiful hilarious” friend… Kim Cattrall.

Arguably a tad awkward as SJP is her co-star in both the iconic OG movie and its highly-anticipated follow-up.

The real clanger, however, is that the show of support came literally hours after The Hollywood Reporter published an interview with Parker, in which she finally addressed Cattrall’s very public past criticism of her. So the internet was convinced the two could not be a coincidence.

One user was also quick to point out that Najimy doesn’t follow SJP on Instagram, but is following Kim.

Parker didn’t say anything particularly controversial or negative about Kim at ALL, instead just commenting how it had been “very painful” to hear Cattrall speak negatively about their career-defining Sex and the City era.

“I’ve never uttered fighting words in my life about anybody that I’ve worked with — ever. There is not a ‘fight’ going on. There has been no public dispute or spat or conversations or allegations made by me or anybody on my behalf. I wouldn’t do it. That is not the way I would have it. So I just wish that they would stop calling this a ‘catfight’ or an ‘argument,’ because it doesn’t reflect [reality]. There has been one person talking.”

Parker mentioned how a third SATC movie had been scrapped because of a conflict in ‘demands’ between KC and the studio, Warner Bros.

“They didn’t feel comfortable meeting where she wanted to meet, and so we didn’t do the movie because we didn’t want to do it without Kim”, she noted. Adding that she wasn’t involved in spin-off, And Just Like That..., because Cattrall made clear that she had moved on.

Although the show of support didn’t directly mention SJP, or even any “feud” at all, many folk were left wondering if Najimy’s endorsement was intended more as a rebuttal to some of Parker’s comments, or as one user put it, “The Hocus Pocus 2 press tour’s about to be awkwardddd”.
