There has been quite a bit of speculation when it comes to this year’s casting for autumn TV favourite, Strictly Come Dancing (called Dancing With The Stars elsewhere in the world).
We knew there was going to be an all-male dance duo but the question remained, who was it going to be? There had been discussions of gold medal winning Olympian Tom Daley taking to the floor due to the fact that some think he will retire now he’s got his coveted metalwork and even TV presenter and comedian Alan Carr was apparently in the offing.
Both of these rumours proved to be untrue however as it has been announced that Great British Bake Off 2012 winner John Waite is the chap who will be breaking down the barriers as one half of the show’s first male coupling. They will not be the first same sex pairing however, that honour went to boxing gold medal winner Nicola Adams last year.
John will be joined on the show by the likes of AJ Odudu, Robert Webb and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and no doubt some of this year’s medal winners from Tokyo 2020. Dust off those shiny shoes, sprinkle on those sequins and get yourself a spray tan as Strictly isn’t far away…
