The power of a DM slide.
Two TV shows which have really captured the attention of the LGBTQ+ community in recent years are undoubtedly Schitt’s Creek and Sex Education.
While Schitts Creek, much to the devastation of its global fanbase, came to an end in 2020, Sex Education has just made its triumphant return to Netflix with a third season.
Sex Education follows Otis Milburn (played by Asa Butterfield), the son of a sex therapist who sets up his own sex clinic at his high school – and the show does not shy away from queer narratives throughout its plotline.

This, it would seem, has captured the attention of none other than the fabulous Dan Levy, who is seemingly a fan of the hit teen drama.
According to BuzzFeed, Mimi Keene, who plays Ruby on the show, revealed that Levy even sent a DM to Asa Butterfield to talk about a role in the show.
“From what I remember correctly, Dan Levy spoke to [Asa] and said how much he liked the show and that he would like to be a substitute teacher” Keene said.
“Him playing David in Schitt’s Creek is like one of my favorite things ever — it got me through some tough times seriously.”
“I’m pretty sure he’s a fan of the show,” she continued, “I was really vibing that, and I hope we go ahead with another season and it happens.”
Connor Swindells, who plays Adam in SE is also down for the guest role, saying: “I would love Dan Levy to come on and play a substitute teacher. I’m a massive fan. I think he’s tremendous and a wonderful person and I think that the would be an amazing addition to the Sex Education cast if the stars were to align.”
So there you have it. While most of us by which I mean me are using the ol’ DM slide to flirt, Dan Levy is using it to get jobs. That’s why he’s on the big bucks.
All seasons of Schitt’s Creek and Sex Education’s brand new season 3 are available to stream now on Netflix.
