Fans are going wild after JLo introduces her child with they/ them pronouns

Jennifer Lopez introduced her child, Emme, onstage using gender-neutral pronouns.

The Waiting for Tonight songstress performed at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Blue Diamond Gala on Thursday (June 16) and gave a heartwarming speech about the 14-year-old, before introducing them to the stage using they/them pronouns.

Emme is Lopez’s youngest child, and their father is Marc Anthony, whom Lopez divorced in 2014.

‘The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this”, JLo said.

“I ask them to sing with me all the time, but they won’t. So this is a very special occasion. They are very, very busy. Booked. And pricey! It costs me when they come out,” she then joked.

The concert was held in order to raise funds for education, health care, homelessness and social justice issues in Los Angeles.

“Give it up for my baby,” the proud mom declared at the end of their duet.

Social media users subsequently interpreted the public display as an affirmation, from mother to child, of Emme’s pronouns, and gave props to Jenny from the Block for respecting them.

However, despite what was OBVIOUSLY an incredibly sweet onstage moment, it didn’t stop some idiots social media users from criticizing JLo for respecting their pronouns.

Some labelled it ‘foolish’, while others thought it was clever to attack the singer and her parenting skills.

JLo’s Netflix documentary from the Superbowl halftime show, called “Halftime”, is available to stream now.

Here is some of the less bigoted commentary on the performance:
