Emma Corrin speaks candidly about their sexuality and gender identity

Emma Corrin gets candid and owns the camera in new feature this week

Emma Corrin, one of the biggest stars in Netflix’s The Crown, came out as non-binary last year and in a new interview they have opened up further about their professional and personal journey.

Corrin recently hit the headlines with a standout lewk at the Olivier Awards, which left fans gagged, and they’re about to star in new movie My Policeman alongside Harry Styles.

Styles plays as a bisexual cop in the highly-anticipated film, which we may have mentioned once or twice (or more).

Speaking to Vogue, Corrin said: “In my mind, gender just isn’t something that feels fixed and I don’t know if it ever will be; there might always be some fluidity there for me.”

“I feel much more seen when I’m referred to as ‘they,’ but my closest friends, they will call me ‘she,’ and I don’t mind, because I know they know me.”

Talking sexuality, Corrin went on to say they just ‘like people’, but had on occasion felt like they had to justify their own queer identity.

“I’m working out all this complex gender and sexuality stuff. And yet, I’m seeing a guy? That feels very juxtaposed, even if I’m very happy.”

Celebrities being visible and speaking so candidly is essential for young queer people, especially at a time when even our most beloved advocates seem to be getting things wrong.

With stars like Corrin speaking out, one can only hope it helps spur on positivity over inclusive language and respect for others.

My Policeman arrives in selected cinemas on October 21 before hitting Amazon Prime on November 4.
