Clearly drinking up the Kool-aid by the gallon, veteran actor Simon Callow has become the latest ‘gay activist’ to condemn Stonewall for their views on self -identification for trans people citing – you guessed it – the ‘invasion’ of female only spaces.
In a wildly misguided statement to The Times (fast becoming the go-to newspaper in the UK for anti-trans rhetoric), Callow said of Stonewall: “They have taken a very strange turn towards the tyrannical, a dangerously prescriptive position on a complex issue. When it impinges on women’s rights, hard-won women’s rights, the right to exclusive spaces for women, away from any threat at all — I think that’s a very serious issue.”
There is literally little to no evidence of men posing as trans women in order to attack women in female only spaces. Callow continued to espouse his skewed views saying: “The whole issue of when children can be deemed to know whether it’s time for them to transition, if they’re going to transition [is complex]. Obviously we know there are a number of cases of people who have regretted it deeply. The most dangerous thing is that it may well be that they are just gay and they’re being somehow lured into thinking that they are obviously in the wrong gender, which is not the case. It has created oppositions which should not be there at all.”
It is extremely characteristic of the anti-trans scaremonger to cry ‘protect our children’ like trans charities and the government itself are trying to ‘create’ trans children, for what reason we still aren’t quite sure. It’s just a shame to see a respected actor go down a misguided path. People took to Twitter to air their apparent lack of surprise however and we have to say we concur. Maybe Simon Callous would be happier being an ‘activist’ for the non-sensical LGB Alliance.
