14-year-old bisexual daughter of anti-LGBT Senator Ted Cruz reportedly attempted suicide last night

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has said his teenage daughter is “okay” after cops were called to his home Tuesday night for a medical emergency.

In a response to The Daily Beast, a representative for Cruz’s office said: “This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is OK.”

Adding, “There were no serious injuries. The family requests the media respect their daughter’s privacy at this time.”

Cruz’s daughter, Caroline, 14, shared that she is bisexual earlier this year.

On social media, Cruz’s eldest daughter’s TikTok profile went viral, after she listed her pronouns as “she/her” and her sexuality as “bi”.

When asked by another TikTok user what her Republican father might think, she replied: “I haven’t told him yet, I’m kinda nervous to tbh but I don’t think he would be mad about it.”

Sonn after, Caroline’s profile was switched to private.

Senator Cruz is known for his anti-LGBTQ+ politics and has vocally been in opposition of same-sex marriage, banning conversion therapy and extending protections for the LGBTQ+ community.

In July this year, shortly after the US Supreme Court overturned federal abortion access, Cruz called the decision to legalise gay marriage ‘clearly wrong’.

One tweeter said: “A 14 year old female child that lives in Texas came out last year as bisexual. Tonight she attempted suicide. This is what the hateful laws against the LGBTQ+ do to children. This child is Ted Cruz’s daughter.”

“Imagine having a father who has made a political career out of being anti-LGBTQ and then coming out as bisexual at 14. I can’t imagine what Ted Cruz has put his daughter through. That child deserves love and I’m praying for her to be okay,” said another.

It is not yet known what prompted the incident.
