The new video has landed and it’s gloriously queer and colourful.
Crave will follow Starstruck as the second single from the band’s forthcoming third studio album, Night Call, which will be released January 7 2022.
Night Call will be Years and Years first studio album since Y&Y became a solo project, following the announcement back in March that the band would continue as an “Olly endeavour”, with its two other former members stepping back.
Speaking to Zane Lowe about the new tune, Olly said he caught inspiration from the darker side of some classic ABBA tracks.
“You know who was an inspiration in the studio? Amongst others, ABBA. You know how ABBA just take you on a journey?”
Olly continued: “Suddenly there’ll be a shift or a change, and you’re just like, ‘Oh, take me with you.’ So, yeah. They’re so weird.”
For the music video (which we are LIVING for), Alexander drafted in some of his It’s a Sin co-stars, with Omari Douglas , Nathaniel Curtis and David Carlyle all making an appearance. Olly took to Twitter to call the cameos ‘a mini It’s A Sin reunion ‘.
Munroe Bergdorf also features, playing a sea witch, and posted the video to Instagram, saying: “so… bestie @ollyyears asked me to play a sea witch in the music video for @yearsandyears‘ new single ‘crave’… and that’s exactly what i did!!!
it’s giving midsummer’s night dream fantasy, but make it QUEER, BLUE AND SEXY.”
