Back in February, TJ Osborne became the first major label signed openly gay guy in country music, pushing boundaries in what is often seen as an overly macho, religious music genre.
Last night he went a step further, however, openly kissing his boyfriend after winning Vocal Duo of the Year with his brother at the CMA Awards.
TJ, 36, planted a smooch on his partner Abi Ventura while his brother John Osborne, 39, shared a kiss with his wife Lucie Silvas.
Thanking the audience upon winning, TJ said: “It’s been a crazy roller coaster of a year for us in so many ways, especially for me emotionally. And to have you all support me, it really does feel like love wins tonight. Thank you.”
Supportive John (the other half of the Brothers Osborne duo) enthused: “Give this boy a round of applause. We love this genre, we love the people, we love all of you so much.” THAT’s the sort of brotherly love we are here for.
While Taylor and Shania are about as country as we get, we might just listen to some Osbornes today in celebration. Yee-haw!
