Lil Nas X bigs up ‘trans rappers’ and unleashes billboards on the eve of new album release

Montero, the brand new hugely anticipated album by Lil Nas X drops TOMORROW and the ‘push’ has literally reached fever pitch.

As well as his slew of  ‘pregnancy’ pics and videos (including his hilarious no-show baby shower below), some incredible and provocative faux lawyer billboards, he’s also been speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 saying, amongst many other things, that ‘trans rappers’ are the future.

He said to Lowe: “You know, so many female rappers that are just killing it and I feel like a decade from now it’s going to be the same with gay rappers or any rappers. I feel like there are going to be entire trans rappers and whatnot just killing it because, why not?”

Lil Nas X also delved into his coming out experience saying :“I feel responsibility. I don’t know if I want to say a lot, but it’s certain things that I see in the world that fuel me to go harder or put even more effort, or to make sure I’m getting across.”

He continued candidly saying: “Because I feel like, I said this before in the past, when people come out as gay or whatnot, it becomes like, ‘Okay, let’s sanitise the hell out of this. Let’s make sure it’s appropriate and super safe.’ And it’s like where they don’t do anything that’s considered too far, even the things that we see other artists doing. And even to defend ourselves… I feel like we still haven’t reached a place where I can do something right now that no straight person has done that’s considered too far. Because then, it’s really too far because no straight person has done it yet.”

Right now, Lil Nas X is the most unapologetically queer and visible person on possibly the whole planet and the fact that he is pushing the boundaries so much will be talked about for many years to come.

The album Montero is out tomorrow and features Industry Baby, Call Me By Your Name as well as collabs with Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Megan Thee Stallion and more.
