Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that Thora Birch, who played Dani Dennison, was originally supposed to reprise her role.
Belissa Escobedo, who plays Izzy in the sequel, told EW that character Dennison, pwas supposed to be working at the girls’ school in the new movie.
“We almost had her. She was going to be our schoolteacher,” said Escobedo. “I remember talking to [director Anne Fletcher] about it being a thing where she was our teacher, and we went to her for help.”
“I think it would’ve been a bigger role if it was played by her”.

The second instalment from the much-loved characters has received mixed reviews from fans, however, with some saying they found the follow-up underwhelming.
Of course, this could just be because our expectations were too high – it has been a nearly three-decade wait, after all.
Here’s what some folk who have seen the movie are saying online!

why are people being critical of a sequel to Hocus Pocus? The first film was a massive flop upon release and gained a cult following through the home release and being played yearly on cable. It’s PURE camp and 90’s weirdness.. That’s WHY I enjoyed #hocuspocus2 for being the same pic.twitter.com/6VL3GWoZfh

Hocus Pocus 2 was made for gays that were dropped on their heads in 1995 and couldn’t finish high school.

Growing up Hocus Pocus was one of my favorite movies for Halloween…. However, Hocus Pocus 2 was absolutely the biggest let down of my life.. #HocusPocus #HocusPocus2 #terrible

I am very, very sad to report that #HocusPocus2 is terrible.
The direction, the camera angles, almost everything is AWFUL. Bette Midler is the best thing about it.
I am so super sad about this.#Disappointed— Lee Ann Newman (@lankrc) October 2, 2022
