Step a-side, Drag Race’s Kerri Colby has made a revelation

Drag Race star Kerri Colby has revealed she identifies as a side.

For those not in the know, ‘side’ is a term, already quite common in some parts, which refers to a gay or queer person who does not enjoy anal penetration (giving, receiving), but does enjoy engaging in the wide variety of other forms of same-sex activity (fellatio, frottage, mutual masturbation, etc to name a few).

The option to list yourself as side went live on Grindr back in May, after developers followed-up on a user suggestion, and many on the hook-up app used social media to share their relief at no longer having to identify as top, vers or bottom – simply out of ease – when they are in fact a side.

In November, Drag Race alum Bosco renewed the gays talking about if they like bumming online discourse, with a tweet that read: “I think we as a [queer] community are lying about how much we enjoy anal”

Replying to her tweet, fans blew up the replies, sharing their ‘side joy’ and proudly, openly saying that they are not so big on anal.

Subsequently, fellow Drag Race legend Kerri Colby opened up about the topic to her own Twitter followers, self-identify as a side and saying:

“I was today years old when I learned that I don’t identify as top or a bottom,” Colby wrote in a tweet. “But as a side.”

Colby, who is a trans woman, then added: “The only discrepancy is that the term seems to be exclusive with gay men which made me LOL”

She then manually updated the Urban Dictionary definition for ‘side’ in a follow-up tweet, making the explanation more inclusive.

Earlier this year, Bosco revealed she had begun hormone treatments after finishing Drag Race.

“I’m trans, my pronouns out of drag are she/they, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Love, Bosco and her AAA size titties” she tweeted at the time.
