Yep, you read the right! Even though season 2 only ended in March, RPDR season 3 will be here in the ‘autumn’ and the queens of the new season have just been revealed.
With half the queens hailing from London, there has also been murmurs of a lack of diversity but as it stands the new queens are: Ella Vaday, Scarlett Harlett, Choriza May, Elektra Fence, Krystal Versace, Charity Kase, River Medway, Kitty Scott-Claus, Victoria Scone, Vanity Milan, and Anubis.
In a series first, not just for the UK but the whole franchise, the cast includes the very first cis woman queen, Victoria Stone. In a statement she says: “It feels right! I definitely didn’t invent the art of drag for women. I am not the first and I certainly won’t be the last…. Me being here is political, but you can just have fun with it. That’s why I started. I just wanted to entertain people and that’s what we’re going to do! Drag can just be fun! We don’t describe cis male drag queens as AMAB queens, so, as a handy tip, I’d just call us all drag queens or drag artists, and, if you must know, I identify as a Tony Award!”
Also in a series first for Drag Race UK, we have a returning queen! The one and only Veronica Green comes back from Lancashire after having to bow out mid season 2 when she got a positive coronavirus result whilst assembling with the other queens to start up filming again. She was one of the front runners so we can expect big things from her. We’re excited already!
