Tom Daley and his husband’s date night went south this week, resulting in the police being called.
Olympic gold medal winner Tom Daley and his husband, director Dustin Lance Black, reportedly called police officers to a London bar this week, following a dispute with a queer events promoter.
The couple were at Freedom, an LGBTQ+ venue in London’s Soho, when Black allegedly ‘threw a drink over a female events promoter’ in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 18) and she responded with a ‘punch’ to his head.
LICK Events founder and star of BBC3’s The Big Proud Party Agency, Teddy Edwardes shared a series of social media posts, claiming:
“I went out for a couple of quiet drinks with some friends last night, nothing crazy and I bumped into Tom Daley and his husband in Soho, who pretty much unprovoked he threw an entire drink over me in Freedom.
“I didn’t have a drink to throw back so I did choose violence, but I wasn’t that violent he got a little tap on the head.”
Anyway I’m getting cautioned but it’s worth it to be able to stick up for myself and other women

Edwardes added: “Tom Daley was nice throughout btw and even tried to diffuse the situation, but his Oscar winning, movie making husband has clearly been watching too many movies about screaming for the POLICE”
A source close Daley and Lance Black told The Sun that the couple had been on a ‘date night’, deciding to hit up the venue – which is popular among celebs – for a quick drink following their meal.
The source said “someone punched Lance in the back of the head” and that person was then “removed from Freedom by security who checked CCTV”.

In a statement to Metro, Met Police said: ‘At 00:19hrs on Thursday, 18 August police were called to a licensed premises in Wardour Street, W1 following reports of an altercation between two customers.
‘Officers attended and spoke to those involved. Both parties, a 48-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, made allegations of common assault.’
‘There were no reports of any injuries and no arrests. Enquiries are ongoing.’
The couple, along with their adorable kid, have been photographed since and seem to be all smiles and business as usual following the alleged altercation.

Tom Daley received praise for his powerful documentary on anti-LGBTQ+ Commonwealth countries earlier this month. More on that by clicking here.
