As the world continues to unpick this year’s Golden Globes, the problem of diversity within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has reared its ugly head again.
Whereas we have discussed Jodie Foster’s historic win, one of the stars/writer/creators of mega hit Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy, called out the HFPA again when he accepted the award for best comedy series.
Tina Fey had already mentioned the the fact that are ZERO black people in the HFPA in her monologue, Levy re-iterated the sentiment that has been rumbling infer years.
When black led movies and shows like I Will Destroy You are looked over while show’s like Emily In Paris get nominated not only highlight show there is a serious problem but also negates the power and relevance of the awards themselves.
Let’s hope that when the awards return next year, they catch up and start to reflect more of what TV and film is about these days.
