As some supposedly ‘forward thinking’ nations are determined to go backward when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights, others are slowly and quietly moving forward.

The Mexican state of Sinaloa, on the western coast of the country, becomes the 21st state to legalise same-sex marriage. In a bill were 23 votes were in favour and zero against (with 17 abstentions mind you), the marriage equality bill decrees that gay couples are now included under the term ‘legal union’.

Once again we are reminded about the importance of Pride. This year seems to have really brought out the bigots who have been invigorated by the trend in far-right thinking. Emboldened by certain political regimes stating their anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, it’s so vital that we keep coming back bigger and better. This law just goes to show that in all places of the world, things are changing and they MUST be seen to be going in the right direction.
