Joe Biden put the LGBTQ+ community front and centre of his Presidential campaign.

He then put his money where his mouth is by putting fellow former candidate for the Presidency and out gay man Pete Buttegieg in his cabinet as Secretary of Transportation.

This week he signed an executive order challenging the current legislation put in by the former highly criticised Secretary Of Education Betsy DeVos. In another example of how Trump was filling the swamp he claimed to be draining, DeVos was just a billionaire pal who knew nothing about education. Her confirmation hearing was even immortalised by Saturday Night Live.

This new order is there to protect and ensure people are free from discrimination in educational environments on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity as well as combating sexual violence and harassment.

This comes after Biden ordered his current Secretary of Education to review ‘all existing regulations, orders and policies’ currently in place.
