It seems like there’s a LOT going on in the world of comics and comic-book-inspired movies and TV these days, which is not surprising considering our need for escapism in such trying times.

Since way back in 2014, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been attached to the character of Black Adam but only now is it finally coming to fruition for the  DC anti-hero. The fresh news is that 007 alumni Pierce Brosnan is to join the cast as Captain Fate. Both are adept at comedy so quite how serious they will be when facing off in full costume is anybody’s guess. As long as Pierce doesn’t sing we’re all for it.

It will be the second New Line/DC movie after the 2019’s unexpectedly brilliant Shazam, who is Black Adam‘s nemesis in the DC Universe. The movie rolls next month, is pencilled in for 2022 and will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who also called the shots on upcoming Rock-starring Disney flick Jungle Cruise.

In June 2021 comic book powerhouses Marvel and DC will release Pride Edition Anthologies, find out more right here!
