The trailer for Heartstopper has landed and fans on social media are HYPED.

At the beginning of March, Netflix gifted us a first look at the latest highly-anticipated queer drama to hit our screens and now, finally, we have a trailer.

Heartstopper tells the story of a friendship between two boys – Charlie and Nick – at secondary school, which blossoms into an unexpected romance.

Consisting of eight 30-minute episodes, this adaptation of Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series will star Kit Connor (His Dark Materials), Corinna Brown (The Show Must Go Online) and Sebastian Croft (Game of Thrones), plus newcomers Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Kizzy Edgell, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Tobie Donovan and Rhea Norwood.

According to the official synopsis, here’s what you can expect from the show:

“When gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick meet at secondary school, they quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance.

“Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever-relatable journey of self discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.”

Discussing the screen adaptation of the hugely popular book, Oseman said of characters Charlie and Nick: “[they] have existed as characters for almost a decade, and are two of my most beloved characters, so I was slightly apprehensive about the casting search, but I am so happy and excited that we’ve cast Kit and Joe.

“They’re both so talented, sweet, funny, and smart, and so perfect. It has been such fun getting to know them and welcoming them into the Heartstopper universe, and I can’t wait to see them bring the characters to life on screen.”

Heartstopper will premiere on Netflix Friday, April 22.
