People are dying, Kim.
No but seriously.
Kim Kardashian has addressed the controversial interview that had the internet buzzing where she encouraged women to ‘get their ‘f***ing ass up and work’.
The reality star was speaking to Variety recently ahead of the launch of new show The Kardashians on Hulu, when she uttered the words now immortalised in meme form:
‘I have the best advice for women in business. Get your f**king ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.’
Then adding: ‘You have to surround yourself with people that want to work’, to the agreement of older sister Kortney, who spent much of the last KUWTK seasons complaining about having to work.
Naturally, the internet went fucking mental had some things to say on the subject, with many calling the comments “tone deaf,” and arguing that privilege had helped her become a success within business.
Then there was the memes. So so so may memes.
Anyway, KK has finally responded to the furore, saying that her words were ‘taken out of context’.
Kim spoke with Robin Roberts for ABC News and told the broadcaster: “Well that statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it. It became a soundbite really with no context.”
She continued: “It wasn’t a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don’t respect the work or think that they don’t work hard. I know that they do. It was taken out of context.”
