Even more so than the recent Oscars, the BAFTAs have taken on diversification in a big way, albeit overdue.

The nominations for the TV BAFTAs were released today and Steve McQueen’s Small Axe leads the pack with 15 nominations. The much lauded (and some would say hugely overlooked) masterpiece I May Destroy You finally gets some recognition for creator Michaela Coel with 8 nods.

Michaela herself has received a much deserved Leading Actress nomination along with Paapa Essiedu who’s up for Leading Actor for playing her Grindr obsessed GBF in I May Destroy You.

Also up for awards is The Crown with 10 nominations and Normal People with 7 with 6 for Sex Education

Neither The Crown‘s Emma Corrin nor Gillian Anderson (who both won Golden Globe awards in February for playing Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher respectively) received nominations. Ouchy, SNUBBED!
