The Brit Awards 2021 were a delectable little slice of normality last night, being held without social distancing but with reduced capacity at the O2 as part of the government’s trial to get events back up and running again.
The girls were the big winers of the night with Dua Lipa winning Best British Female as well as Album of the Year for her stonking record Future Nostalgia which has kept us dancing in our living rooms since last year.
Little Mix became the first all female Best British Group, thanking the Spice Girls, Sugababes and Girls Aloud for paving the way before them. Yes that’s right, the Spice Girls never won Best British Group…groan.
The audience were made up mainly of key workers who were treated to some stellar live performances. Dua opened the show with a London inspired medley and Elton John duetted with Olly Alexander for an unashamedly queer performance of Pet Shop Boy’s hit It’s a Sin which, of course, inspired the recent TV series of the same name starring Alexander.
