In a move further diminishing the rights and dignities of trans kids in the USA, Florida has an passed anti-trans bill that bans students from taking part in school sports while also giving the schools the option to perform ‘examinations’ if a student’s gender is questioned.

Opponents of the new legislation (sinisterly called the ‘Fairness in Women’s Sports Act’) are understandably appalled by what some are calling ‘state-sanctioned sexual assault against children’.

Chillingly, the bill itself states that ‘a dispute regarding a student’s sex shall be resolved by the student’s school or institution by requesting that the student provide a health examination and consent form or other statement signed by the student’s personal health care provider which must verify the student’s biological sex”

This is nothing short of a crisis now in the USA and we need to speak out and show them we are their allies.  Bisexual former professional NFL player RK Russell agrees, writing in The Guardian this week ‘the more than 200 anti-trans bills under consideration across the country are not about youth sports, but about attacking and eradicating the most vulnerable.’
