Demi Lovato announces pronouns as they/them.
The journey of sexual discovery and identity is never straight(no pun intended)-forward, but they are experiences that Demi Lovato has been willing and keen to take openly and in the spotlight. So for that, and considering the potential number of major stars still potentially holding back, we stan.
Already this year the singer has released a brutally honest documentary (which is brilliant btw) about their battles with addiction and near-fatal overdose, talked their queerness and relationship with men, and revealed they are pansexual, among other things.
Phew. Demi is not fuc*ing around with the honesty in 2021.
And here’s the latest from Twitter:
“Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all,” Demi said.
“I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary & will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”
Demi added that “healing and self-reflective work” over the past year had helped them understand their gender identity better.
Using they/them as pronouns “best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression”, the Heart Attack singer added in a heartfelt video to fans.
Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity & chance to be who we want & wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, & everything in between. pic.twitter.com/HSBcfmNruo

“I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones,” Demi added.
“Please keep living in your truths & know I am sending so much love your way.”
Congratulations, Demi! We love ya!
