All hail Christina Ricci. If you’ve not seen her star turn in the excellent Yellowjackets then what are you waiting for? In the meantime, it has been announced that she is to star in Wednesday, the live action series based on character she played in The Addams Family.
Netflix announced the exciting news in a tweet but also let us know that she wouldn’t be playing a grown up Wednesday Addams but a new character yet to be revealed.
What we DO know is some of the supporting cast of the coming-of-age comedy. Jenna Ortega will be taking on the titular role, with none other than Catherine Zeta Jones as Morticia and Luis Gusman as Gomez. Game of Thrones‘s Gwendoline Christie will also be in it in an undisclosed role.
The show is being billed as a mystery that follows the teen Wednesday during her time at Nevermore Academy where: “Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
One thing is of sure, with Ricci on board – the pedigree of the show just shot up from a might-see to a must-see. Well that and the fact Tim Burton will be directing…
