Since the well-publicized release of New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears, fans have been waiting for the singer to respond the film, which sparked a huge outpouring of support from both the general public and celebrities alike.

And now she has. Taking to Instagram the Piece of Me singer wrote:

“My life has always been very speculated … watched … and judged really my whole life !!! For my sanity I need to dance to @iamstevent every night of my life 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 to feel wild and human and alive !!!”

“I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people  😳😳😳 !!! It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 !!!! As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people !!!”, she continued.

“I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in … I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!! I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness ✨🙏🏼 ☀️ !!!! Every day dancing brings me joy !!!

I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness 💋💋💋 !!!!”

The (frankly adorable) video of her dancing was met with a mixed response from fans though, some praising her for an honest and open response, while others were more sceptical with one user writing: “Instead of dancing, can we get a video of you typing your own captions next time? I want to believe you it’s you speaking for yourself, but I am skeptical. We love you!”

Earlier this week Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone revealed – during her TV appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show – that Britney had once reached out to her with a pleading letter around February 2007.

2007 was, of course, the year that Brit infamously hit the headlines for shaving her hair, during what many highlighted as her ‘breakdown’.

Sharon recalled the “very long and important, poignant letter” and went on to disclose:

“You get handled so much that… there is a huge breaking point, and there’s a point where you get broken. The thing with Britney Spears is so out of control and so awful.

“And certainly, I can say it’s been very out of control and very awful more than once in my life, and I have certainly had it”‘.

Earlier this month Britney had taken to social media to give thanks to some inspirational women – including Stone – with the following post:

Framing Britney Spears is currently available on NOWTV, meanwhile in the UK the BBC recently announced their own documentary which will ‘uncover the truth’ on her conservatorship as the #FreeBritney movement continues to pick up global pace.

As it stands, Britney is unable to make decisions surrounding her finances or career without her dad’s approval – Jamie Spears is her legal guardian.
