There’s been a spate of queer icons wanting to move into politics of late but one whose views we definitely share is Drag Race UK runner-up Bimini Bon Boulash.

Chatting to the UK’s premier Drag Race podcast, United Queendom, the non-binary star talked about their time on the show as well as their political ambitions. On being asked if Number 10 was beckoning, they said, ‘Maybe Bimini for mayor first. Sadiq [Khan] can pass on the baton. Sadiq’s my mate, we had lunch.’

Well that’s the sort of name drop that would put Michelle Visage to shame! Bimini isn’t even too fussed about not winning the show saying: ‘It would’ve been iconic to say I won Drag Race, but I’m also very proud of Lawrence, and Lawrence fully deserved it. But I don’t know if I’d be able to be doing all the stuff I’m doing now if I had, so maybe… I’ve been working on music, lots of performances, and working on a lot of cool editorial photoshoots, shot with Italian Vogue, there are big moments coming out.’

Have a listen to the wide-ranging interview in the links below where Bimini talks about their non-binary experience in depth amongst many things. Also check out their musical debut God Save This Queen below.
