Neil Gaimen’s American Gods came to Amazon Prime in a blaze of glory, with a sexy British star in Ricky Whittle, a killer support cast featuring Kristen Chenowith and Gillian Anderson… and hot LGBTQ characters and sex scenes.
After just three seasons however, Amazon/Starz are calling time on the aeon-spanning fantasy epic about gods, both ancient and new. While the relationships in the show were often fantastical, they highlighted representation in the queer Middle Eastern and Muslim communities as well as the trans community with the show also starring Pose‘s Dominique Jackson.
When the gods close a door however, they open a window as Amazon have announced Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to TV with Hot Pink. It’s loosely based on Elana K. Arnold’s young-adult novel What Girls Are Made Of, and will be showrun by Elisabeth Holm (Obvious Child) and directed by Desiree Akhavan (The Miseducation of Cameron Post).
We are gagged for SMG’s triumphant return to TV, especially after we’ve been living for her hilariously bizarre Instagram feed where she un-ironically (or not, we can’t tell) delivers her top pandemic/life tips.
