No ‘new year, new you’ here! You’re going into 2022 as your same badass self, but it’s time to shine your light even brighter.

However, if you’re going to have NY resolutions, here are 5 suggestions, from me, to help you be your most authentic self in the new year – no matter what anyone else thinks.

1. Approach the same sex in public.

Gulp. I know we’re all used to online dating, but what if you took a break? If you’re anything like me, I’m ready to meet people IRL. It doesn’t have to be creepy or weird. Just start by saying hi!

2. Detox your circle.

It doesn’t have to be a big friendship breakup, but look around you. Who are you following? Who do you spend the most time with? Who should you spend less time with (or more)? No homophobia, biphobia or panphobia allowed in 2022. Your friends should support you and if they don’t, you need new ones.

3. Experiment with your style.

Ever think “I could never pull that off” or “she looks so cool in that, but it’s not for me”? This year, try something new – even just for a day. Buy the yellow pants. Wear the big watch. Or if you want something a little more permanent, chop your hair off – I’ve done it and highly recommend for a fresh start. (Just make sure you go to a professional.)

4. Travel to a new place.

Whether it’s a state across the country, the next town over or the gay bar down the street you still haven’t stepped into – go somewhere new. Change up your environment and see what you learn, who you meet, and how it helps you grow.

5. Reignite your dreams.

The last 2 years have been hard for us all, and maybe they’ve put a damper on what you want in life. Make this new year the year that you get your fire back. Tap into your power. Go for what you want – even if it’s a small step. You’re never too old and you still have time!
